Tools of the Trade
Our
performers employ the largest fire tool arsenal available. If you've seen
it, we have it. The most popular ones:
•
FIRE STAVES
~ An integral part of the Hawaiian Fire Dance Ceremony, 6’
Poles with fire wicking attached to each end are manipulated by spinning the
poles around the body, producing large fire trails. Performed solo,
choreographed, or in fire staff fight routines.
• MAORI FIRE POI (AKA: Fire Chains) ~ Also a
Polynesian staple, fire chains are two 4’ chains with fire wicking attached to
the ends. Connected to the performer at the wrist, the chains are swung around the body in fast
circles, producing spectacular fiery optical illusions.
• FIRE EATING TORCHES ~ Small handheld torches
ingested by the mouth, lighting the tongue on fire, and many other theatric
feats
• FIRE JUMP ROPE ~
Long Kevlar ropes, ignited and used as a jump rope by 1 or 3 fire
artists. Also used to create large fiery circles
• FIRE BREATH ~
Large 15’ blasts of fire from the mouth. Group
"blasts" on the same torch creates a spectacular 'volcano' effect.
Great finale.
• CONTACT FIRE ~
“wiping” small traces of fire across chest and arms, producing
short presence of fire on the body: Optically sensational, easily extinguished,
and very harmless.
•FIRE ‘DEVIL STICKS’
~ Asian in origin, the ‘devil sticks’ are three wands, ignited
at both ends. The center stick is “Juggled”- manipulated by using two burning
control sticks. The center stick is tossed in the air at heights up to
25’.
• FIRE HULA HOOP~ A
standard hula-hoop, professionally rigged with a flammable rim. When spun, the
hoop creates an amazing sphere of fire around the person inside.
• FIRE JUGGLING CLUBS ~ Manipulation of two, three and four flammable juggling
clubs tossed in a myriad of juggling patterns, including under legs, behind
back, on the head and face, and balanced on chin.
•
FIRE 9-SECTIONAL CHAIN WHIP ~ A Martial arts weapon tailored with fire
at the end. Swung like a giant rope, and manipulated by the hands around
the body and neck for daring and dangerous effects.
• PALM FIRE TORCHES ~ A pair of torches secured to the palms, used to accent our dances, belly dance vignettes, and close-up performances.
• FIRE FINGERS ~ Ten elongated finger extensions with burning torches on the fingertips. Seductive and spooky, these accessories are used heavily in choreographed fire dances, belly dances, and character work.
• FIRE FANS~ Wicking is attached to metal recreations of Chinese dancing fans. Creates quick-moving, tall arcs of fire around the performer.
• FIRE SPHERE~ A spherical wire-caged ball of fire, handled by the performer by tossing, juggling and rolling across the body. Amazing to watch.
• FIRE WHIP~ A long whip constructed from Wicking, creates large popping sounds and bursts of flame when snapped.
• FIRE & ICE CAULDRON~ A burning cauldron handled by dancers, which create both fire and wild non-toxic smoke-effects.
• FIRE ARROWS~ For events with larger space, flaming arrows are shot into the night sky, or to ignite a prepared bonfire or target.
• FIRE TRACKS~ A technical visual effect, which ignites a pre-prepared surface in 'running tracks' along the ground. Safe and spectacular.
• FIRE BALANCING POLE~ A 16' Pole of Fire, balanced on the chin and head.
• FIRE SWORDS~ Swords sheathed in ignitable wick, swung about the body in technical performance, dance, or fight routines
• FIRE BELT~ A belt of fire, attached to the body, with protruding fiery extensions, similar to those of the fire fingers. Used with belly/ modern dance
• FIRE CROWN~ Various styles of flaming headgear, often constructed to fit particular event themes or period vignettes.
• FIRE NUNCHAKU ~ Martial Arts weapons with burning ends, manipulated close to the hands and body, creating fast, almost-body-singing fire.
• MISCELLANEOUS
APPARATUS ~ Fire Drums, Fireworks, Flash Paper, Flaming
chair tricks, fire table spinning, Tiki, Fire Kali Sticks,
